Shred-a-game One: Apex Legends

Firstly, let me state that my opinion is heavily seated on the fact that I don't care for the entire Battle Royale genre at this point. My criticism is mainly targeted at just how not-different Apex Legends is from all of the other Battle Royale games.
I didn't like Fortnite at all and I felt that PUBG was mediocre at best. Being a big fan and currently active player of Overwatch, I hoped that Apex Legends would bring the same refreshing deviation to Battle Royale that Overwatch brought to shooters. After all, just like Battle Royale, I have never cared for shooters either.
Apex Legends failed miserably in that regard. Your heroes only get one ability, each one granting only minimal impact. Ultimately, the game ended up feeling like just another lame Battle Royale, where all of the same exact skill-sets and tactics reigned supreme as in all other Battle Royale games.
On top of that, I have another more subjective reason for disliking Apex Legends: The character concept art is horrendously cringey. Namely, the character with the dumbest, most impractical looking shield on one of the loading screens. Why would you bring a buckler to a gun fight, nevermind how stupid it looks? Not even Shadow Madness made me cringe before I even got past the loading screen.
Look, if Battle Royale is something you're really into, perhaps Apex Legends is right up your alley. As for me, I'd rather go play Overwatch's newest declared homosexual, Soldier 76, before I'd ever have to stare at that ridiculously stupid shield again from a game that is clearly over-hyped.
