"Men don't get an opinion, as they'll never know what it's like to be pregnant"

This is fallacious, as it's disregarding logic, reason, moral-standards as factors in the discussion, and the fact that someone can understand something from the outside looking in.

This equates to saying that women couldn't possibly understand what it's like to be a sex-depraved man, and therefor they have no say in whether rape is okay if they weren't the victim (Analogous to the baby being the victim that cannot be spoken for by the third party).

"What's your solution to all of the kids that would be born and unwanted then?"

Step 1: Instead of promoting abortion rights to young mothers, we should be promoting contraceptive measures, safe sex, abstinence, and sex education to ALL our children much better than we are now. This falls on the parents, the schools, AND the system to provide an educational platform that teaches our children to treat sex more cautiously than casually.

Step 2: The governments two primary roles are national security and the welfare of its citizens. Therefor, the government needs to put into place programs just for this, as after an abortion ban, there will be an influx. Also, there needs to be reform of the foster-care system. Follow by:

Step 3: Stop funding abortion clinics like Planned Parenthood unless they cease abortions, and re-allocate those funds, as well as billions of other funds possibly from countless other wasteful spending budgets (Let's all agree that the government wastes billions on a lot of things better spent on important issues like this one) to the aforementioned new programs.

Yes, that's a lot of legislating and budget reformation, but often-times, the path of doing the right thing is arduous. Simple and easy is almost never the right answer.

"It's my uterus/body, I do with it what I want. I do not want the government to have a say over my reproductive rights."

It IS their uterus, however, their body ends where the baby's begins. Just as your rights end where another persons rights begin. The conversation at this point has to now be directed at whether or not the baby should be considered a person and therefor has those rights.

"It's not a life -or- 'It shouldn't be legal past this certain point'."

I have to convey a series of logical conclusions that indicate that any line drawn beyond conception is arbitrary.

What's the difference between a newborn and a baby in the womb ready to be delivered? Only that it's still in the womb, right? So, is killing said not-born-yet baby any less heinous than killing the newborn? Of course not.

What's the difference between a baby ready to be born and a baby just a day away from being "Viable"? Only that it's capable of sustaining itself, but only a day away. So, is killing a baby that is only a day away from being "viable" really less heinous than killing a fully developed baby ready to be delivered? Of course not.

So we've concluded so far that -born- and -viable- are, at best, only arbitrary moral lines to draw to justify the murder of an innocent person. The same applies to drawing the line anywhere else, whether it's pain receptors, toes & fingers, thoughts, heartbeat, etc.

In this particular case, there's no moral line to draw that isn't arbitrary and therefor a moral absolute has to be found. That moral absolute is at conception.

"They'll get abortions the illegal way once you ban it, so you're only banning legal abortions"

While this is true to an extent, it's implying that the majority of abortions don't happen primarily thanks to abortions being provided in a safe, legal, clean way in first place. I don't think it's a stretch of the imagination or conjecture at all to assume that not having the safe, legal, & clean option available would deter most or even nearly all abortions.

That said, it's to be expected that some rare few would do things the illegal way. That's why we have laws and those who enforce the laws to bring lawbreakers to justice. If abortion were banned, then anyone caught having one illegally would be brought to justice. That's how the legislative and judicial branches of our country work and why they're there.

"What about rape and when the life of the mother is in the balance?"

I don't think anyone, with common sense, who wants a ban on abortions, wants a ban across the board. There would be cases like deformity and the life of the mother that would have to allow a legal abortion to be an option. These cases are less than 1% of abortions however, and that's the issue that pro-lifers take up with abortion.

I happen to disagree with making even rape-related abortion legal, however, that's a tough situation to weigh as well. As far as that goes, I believe a rapist that has impregnated his victim should get life in prison or worse.

"What about when the child would be born into a hopelessly bad situation?"

What's the difference between killing a newborn that is born into a hopelessly bad situation and one ready to be born? Then the difference between that one and the viable one, and the viable one from all the other arbitrary distinctions? Is it really any less heinous to kill one of a child, baby, or fetus rather than the other? It isn't. It's heinous across the board. It's the unjustifiable murder of an innocent person.
