Let's distinguish between Republican, conservative, Bush, and Trump

Updated: May 1, 2019

Some of you may consider this blasphemous, but I still don't believe that George W. Bush was one of the good guys. That is in the same sense that I don't think our RINO-infested Republican party are the good guys either. Let's think about the fact that Bush set the stage for Obama to sweep in like Batman trying to save us all from Republican imperialism and incompetence. It was Bush that fostered the recession-bubble that popped, despite being left with a healthy deficit. While I certainly hate how Clinton achieved that healthy deficit, a true conservative president would have at least maintained it so that the price paid was not in vain. It's almost as if our last real conservative president was Reagan.

The left is very clever about gerrymandering. So let's look reality in the eye here: Conservatives are not well-represented right now. We have the likes of Rand Paul, Dan Crenshaw, & Trey Gowdy, but a handful of true conservatives do not make a conservative Republican party.

Unfortunately, the Libertarian party is suffering a similar fate. I actually voted for Gary Johnson in 2016. That was before I learned about his left-wing leanings and during a period where I had yet to fully acknowledge my own transition to conservatism.

There's certainly merit in the #WalkAway movement regarding the Democrat party, but let's stop pretending that the Republican party is currently the ideal place for them to walk to.
