Their worldview hinges on delegitimizing Trump

   All of the relentless and baseless attacks on Trump, namely the russian collusion smear, all come down to one thing: the left refuses to accept the results of the election. It goes even deeper than that, however.

   You see, Democrat politicians and their supporters are under the impression that the majority are on their side. That's part of why Hillary Clinton was so over confident. She really believed, and still does, that the vast majority of Americans are on her side. She and the other Democrats are absolutely certain of it. 

   So when Donald Trump won, rather than realize how out-of-touch she is, she rationalized that he cheated instead. After all, she DID cheat, which bolsters her certainty of it.

   From her point of view, it's a lot like that scene from the movie The Sting, where the cheater Lonnegan gets out-cheated in a poker game by the protagonist. When approached about what to do about it by his lackey, he says

   "What do you expect me to do? Accuse him of cheating better than me?!"

   Only in this case, she, the other Democrats, and all of their supporters are wrong. He beat her legit and they cannot accept it, as they cannot accept the reality that America is not ACTUALLY on their side. That they are out of touch and that America is not under their thumb as securely as they thought.

   When it comes to the left-wing general public, it's their choice to live and thrive in echochambers and political vacuums that cause them to not realize how outnumbered they really are. They surround themselves with only people they agree with long enough to delude themselves into actually believing that most people agree with them.

   Combine that with an election they thought they were sure to win and you get the Trump-Hate-Train we've been seeing since the election results. Rather than accept that their views aren't shared by everyone else, they have to delegitimize the results of the election. They must do that to maintain their delusion, because waking up to reality is NOT an option.
